In 1980, an almost impossible¬†thing happened between Coe and Ovett, both of whom were British runners and weren’t exactly friends and were very real rivals in the race. Ovett said that he had a 9o% chance of winning the race but, with a surge of excellence, bravery and pure utter speed, Coe won the race with Ovett shattered by the draw dropping feat Coe had just accomplished. As Coe took his gold medal, Ovett accepted defeat and settled with Bronze at third place.
